The recycling of ferrous metals is one of the COMET Group’s main activities, performed through COMETSAMBRE SA, and also forms the main axis for development and expansion. The growth of COMETSAMBRE means that we now handle a supply of almost 1 000 000 tonnes of scrap iron per year, making us the biggest producer of iron and steel industry materials in Belgium.
The principles constantly applied in our management, expansion, commercial and operational pro-activity and technological expertise make COMETSAMBRE a leading company in the world of ferrous metal recycling. We are a serious partner, guaranteeing product quality, respect for environmental standards - technical performance for recycling.
COMETSAMBRE’s strong expansion resulted in the 2008 installation of a new METSO LINDEMANN 7000 hp shredder in Obourg (Mons), in Belgium.
The COMET Group is set to considerably increase the production capacity of COMETSAMBRE (by 200 tonnes per hour) and bolster partnerships with the biggest industry names which appear on our list of regular clients.
Cometsambre also works with a 3000 hp shredder, processing around 100 tonnes an hour on our site of Châtelet.
The use of waterways, even for short distances, is part of COMETSAMBRE’s strategic choices:
waterways enable Cometsambre to strengthen its commercial connections, increase its areas of activity, optimise the logistics involved in our industrial activity economically and ecologically, both inland and maritime.
However, Cometsambre also has a fleet of lorries for its clients and suppliers.
